Mortgage regulation

As of 31st October 2004 the Financial Services Authority (FSA) is responsible for the regulation of mortgage sales. The FSA is an independent body that regulates the financial services industry in the UK. Their 4 main aims are:

  • Maintaining confidence in the UK financial system
  • Promoting public understanding of the financial system
  • Securing the right degree of protection for customers
  • Helping to reduce financial crime
